FMFM 2-1 Intelligence
FMFM 2-1, Intelligence, sets forth information and guidance concerning the planning and execution of intelligence activities within the Marine Corps.
This Manual addresses intelligence staff organizations, functions, and responsibilities, including the direction, collection, processing, and dissemination of intelligence. It also discusses reconnaissance and surveillance, target intelligence, air intelligence, sensors, and training.
This manual furnishes guidance concerning landing force intelligence. It is the basic intelligence reference and is used in conjunction with LFM 01, Doctrine for Amphibious Operations, FMFM 3-1, Command and Staff Action; other appropriate manuals of the FMFM series; and NWP 11, Naval Operational Planning. Special intelligence operations are of a particularly sensitive nature, and a discussion of them cannot be contained in this manual. For details, see FMFM 2-3, Signals Intelligence/Electronic Warfare Operations (L), details pertaining to Marine Corps counterintelligence operations are contained in FMFM 2-4, Counterintelligence; air reconnaissance operations are described in FMFM 5-6, Air Reconnaissance.
