FM 1-15 Aviation Battalion

This manual provides doctrine and guidance for the employment and operation of the aviation battalion. It discusses the mission, organization, capabilities, limitations, and internal operations of the battalion as well as its relationship to supported units.

Although this manual is based upon aviation battalions organic to armored, infantry, infantry (mechanized) and airborne divisions, it is generally applicable to all type aviation battalions. Significant differences between divisional and nondivisional units are discussed. Users who are interested in specific organizations should use the appropriate tables of organization and equipment (TOE) in conjunction with this manual.

The material contained herein is applicable to nuclear and nonnuclear warfare.
