Condition

Fair (FC)

Item is fully usable for its intended purpose, but has one or more discrepancies. Material could have small holes or spots that are worn through. The item may have light to moderate dirt from field use, and should be hand-washed upon receipt. Item will be soft from use (if clothing or a pack or pouch, for example) and may be faded. Hard items may be scratched or abraded. Straps could have some wear. Item could have writing on it, patches, or stitching or adhesive where patches or name tags were applied. Item may be folded and/or wrinkled.

Fair Condition items are useful when you are a military person that has to turn in an item that you lost, you only need to use an item briefly, or under adverse conditions, or price is more important than looks. Item has full functionality, and can be used as intended.

Good (GC)

Item is fully usable for its intended purpose. Item will not have any holes, rips, or areas that are worn through. The item may have light dirt from field use, and should be hand-washed upon receipt.

Good Condition items are a balance between cost and cosmetics. A "GC" item will look used, but can often be brought up to excellent or near excellent condition with a quick hand washing.

Excellent (EC)

Item is fully usable for its intended purpose. Item will not have any holes, rips, or areas that are worn through. The item will have little to no dirt from field use, but may require hand-washing upon receipt. Item material (if clothing or a pack or pouch, for example) will not be soft from over-use, and will have little to no signs of fading. Hard items will have little to no scratches or abrasions. Straps will have little to no wear. Item could have writing on it, or stitching where patches or name tags were applied. Item may be folded and/or wrinkled.

Excellent Condition items are lightly used, and are the best thing next to an unused or new item. Little to nothing will have to be done to these items, but a quick hand washing is advisable.

New In Package (NIP)

An item that has not been used, and is still in the original packaging. Item may be folded and/or wrinkled.

New Old Stock (NOS)

An item that is government surplus in origin, but was never issued, worn, or used. The items was in storage until such a time as the military no longer needed it, and purged it from its inventory. This can happen in cases where the army may, for example, switch colors of uniforms, and has to purge stock on colors no longer being used. A recent example would be the United States army switching from woodland camouflage and 3-color desert camouflage to the new ACU (ACUPAT) camouflage. Item may be folded and/or wrinkled.

New With Tags (NWT)

An item that has not been used, does not have the original packaging, but still has the original tags on it, such as a garment that still has the manufacturers advertising, size, or features tags attached to it. Item may be folded and/or wrinkled.
